   This Father’s Day, I was reminded of the countless mentors in my life. Whether it was learning to play ball with my Dad or special guidance from a teacher, males have made a profound impact on my future. Unfortunately, many of today’s youth are not afforded the opportunity to have people in their lives that serve in the same capacity.

   The most common misconception is that in order to mentor you have to be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. On the contrary, the most profound mentors are the nameless heroes that say a kind word or offers encouragement.  Mentors do not act as parents but serve as the role models our youth need as they guide their way into the world.
