Making that annual New Year's resolution is a tradition that much of society has followed for centuries. New Year's resolutions can be traced back as far as 153 B.C. to Janus (who the month of January is named after), the ancient symbol for resolutions and the mythical king of Rome. Janus had two faces, one to look back  reflecting on the past and the other to look forward to the future.
